Mario Opazo

Kusikawsay, by Mario Opazo, was sand-cast from metal recovered from weapons surrendered under Colombia’s Peace Agreement.

Its form evokes both a canoe and a projectile, transforming the matter of conflict into memory and hope. The piece is installed in the United Nations Sculpture Garden in New York.
